While Walking Around Greece - Corinth Canal (Corinth)

From the 7th c B.C. people dreamed of connecting the Saronic Gulf with the Gulf of Corinth.
But it wasn't until 1893 that this canal, 
which turned the Peloponnese of Greece into an island, 
became a reality.
It is much too small for today's ship to navigate
but it is still one of the most amazing feast of engineering the world has ever seen...
a pleasure to take a cruise through
or even to stand on the bridge above and wave to those sailing below.
