On this gray December morning
I felt the need for a little bit of sun and summer.
So I reached into my files and found this -
sunset on the last day of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens.
This is the Ancient Panathenaic Stadium.
It's around 2500 years old and made entirely of marble.
It's also where the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896. It was fitting that the final event of the 2004 Olympics occurred here too. That is of course, the Marathon Run!
While the sun was setting we were awaiting the runners arrival - from Marathon itself!
Of course, the original Marathon runner had to go a bit further... he had to take his good news to the acropolis beyond!
It was a glorious evening in 2004.
In my inspirational romance, Race of Love, the heroine who is a runner, runs into this stadium too!
